On "Sober," Adult Mom proves they don't need to be lo-fi to be intimate
Driver, Epitaph, 2021
Adult Mom has shared a song from their forthcoming album, Driver. Though “Sober” is noticeably less lo-fi than the band’s 2017 album, Soft Spot, the new single is as intimate and catchy as anything they’ve released previously.
In addition, the New York-based band treated fans to some trippy, colorful visuals thanks to animator Maddie Brewer. Driver, the band’s third album, will be available on vinyl and streaming services on March 5 via Epitaph Records.
The release of Driver on Epitaph Records marks a new beginning for the indie-pop band. Previously, Adult Mom was signed to the indie label Tiny Engines. But in a series of tweets in late 2019, Adult Mom’s founder, Stevie Knipe, accused Tiny Engines of a breach of contract to the tune of more than $7,000 in late royalty payments.
Tiny Engines has returned the masters for Momentary Lapse of Happily and Soft Spot to the band according to Billboard.
