Dark Horse Records releases new Joe Strummer recording and video, "Junco Partner"
Dark Horse Records released a new Joe Strummer song called “Junco Partner.” Described as an “unreleased home recording” by the late songwriter’s official Twitter account, the track is drenched in reverb and laced with intimate moments, like the shrieking of Strummer’s fingers as they slide across his acoustic guitar.
Originally written and recorded by blues artist James Waynes, “Junco Partner” was one of Strummer’s go-to cover songs. Before joining the Clash in 1976, he played the song live with the London rock ‘n’ roll band, the 101ers. He also recorded a buzzy dub version of the song with the Clash for their epic, 1980 album, Sandinista!
The new recording is a teaser for an upcoming double LP called ASSEMBLY, a greatest-hits of sorts dedicated to Joe Strummer’s solo career. That album is due out on March 26th via Dark Horse.
